How many hotels can boast a construction date of 1880? in Little Rock there is only one and even it isn’t snuggled down on a deeply wooded lot in the heart of the city surrounded by other beautifully restored historic homes and structures.
Rosemont was built by a gentleman farmer named George Dickinson. The original structure consisted of what is now the guest parlor, dining room and first floor guest room, originally used as the family parlor. Upstairs there are three of the family’s bedrooms, all restored and welcoming guests. Plus, the old carriage house and spring kitchen have been incorporated into the main house and converted to use as a 4th upstairs bedroom and as a downstairs laundry room.
We are extremely proud of our stamped tin roof painted a bright red and original to the house. Who has a 130 year roof that doesn’t leak! The winding staircase that transports guests to the second floor is a beautiful testimony to farmer Dickinson’s financial position; as are the two ornate mantles and fireplaces on the first floor. These are not the simple designs of a bib & overall farmer.
We invite you to come spend a little time with us at Rosemont and enjoy all of the historical charm of this fine old house. You will experience its history and our slightly lavish hospitality. I look forward to your visit.
We had so much late summer rain that the Fall Color in Little Rock is exceptional this year … don’t miss it! Whether you want to sit quietly and soak in the peaceful beauty or get caught up in the energy of the River Market District, you will dramatically experience this fantastic season with a trip to Little Rock. Of course, we would love to have you stay with us at Rosemont Inn or in our Rosehaven Cottages. We’re in full Fall glory ourselves! Also, click on the LittleRock.com link and see what is going on in the city that will delight you.
We started welcoming cats and dogs at Rosemont soon after we opened. However, when Figaro came to live with us, we ramped up our enthusiasm in proportion to Figaro’s enthusiasm for the inn’s guests. You can find him most mornings and afternoon stretched out in front of the fire in the dining room. He’s good (or bad … depending on your attitude) about attempting to visit guests in their rooms. Of course, opening your door to his bellowing is completely optional. Bring your 4-legged family members with you. They are welcome at Rosemont and the canine members will love Rosehaven Cottages with the completely fenced gardens.
We seem to have more than our share of couples who want to start their lives together in our garden. Who can blame them! The summer rains have made our garden even more lush than usual and we are enjoying many pleasant late afternoon and evenings of soft breezes and below average humidity.
“My fiance and I stayed at Rosemont throughout our courtship and we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Being a bride who likes simplicity and elegance, I was delighted that Susan (the innkeeper) made our wedding a day full of perfection down to the very last detail. If I could go back in time, there is not one thing I would do differently.” Tami Duke, Recent Review from an August Bride
